James D Watson
Today we remember James D. Watson (1928-2025) — a towering figure in molecular biology whose co-discovery of the double-helix structure of DNA in 1953 transformed how we understand life itself. His work laid the foundation for modern genetics, genomics and biotechnology. At the same time, his legacy remains complex: though celebrated for his scientific achievement, his later writings drew condemnation for racist remarks.
